The Morale Phase
Step 1: Check warband morale
In this step, each player must count the number of friendly fighters taken out of action during the battle. If more than half of a warband’s fighters (rounding up) has been taken out of action, the warband is wavering.
Step 2: Take Bravery Tests
If a warband is wavering, each fighter in that warband must take a Bravery test. If the test fails, that fighter is panicked until the beginning of the next morale phase. Like with all Bravery tests, a fighter within 6” of their LEADER may use the LEADER's Bravery characteristic when taking the test.
Withdraw from battle
If your warband is wavering, instead of taking bravery tests, you can decide to voluntarily withdraw from the battle:
- Friendly fighters within 1” of enemy fighters immediately drop any tokens they are carrying, and are then removed from the battlefield.
- Fighters removed in this manner are not considered to be taken out of action and do not roll for injuries in the aftermath sequence.
- If there is anything your opponent still needs to achieve (such as fulling the victory condition of the scenario), the remaining battle rounds are played through to their conclusion. If not, the battle immediately ends.
