Warband size


A Undead warband may consist of up to 15 fighters.

Faction rules


Thrall

Fighters with the Thrall keyword are bound to the Vampire leading the warband. A thrall cannot be equipped with any weapons, armour or equipment. They do not earn experience or gain renown, are unable to carry treasure tokens and automatically pass any Bravery test they are required to take.

Each time a VAMPIRE earns renown, you can pick from the following abilities in addition to the specializations in the campaign book. Doing so does not count against a fighter’s specialization limit.

[Reaction] Transfixing Glare

Use this reaction when a visible enemy fighter within 6" of this fighter uses an action. That fighter must pass a Bravery test, or the action is cancelled.

[Trait] Ravenous Thirst

When this fighter uses the Feed ability, you may allocate up to X damage points to the target, and remove up to (X) damage points from this fighter.

[Trait] Dark Regeneration

This fighter never has to roll on the injury table as a result of being taken out of action.

[Double] Unholy Celerity

A fighter can only use this ability if an enemy fighter has been taken down by an attack action made by this fighter this activation. This fighter makes a free move action or a free attack action.

[Triple] Bat Form

For this fighter’s next move action, increase its Move characteristic by 3. During that move action, this fighter can fly.

[Quad] Beheading Strike

This fighter makes a free attack action. In addition, add (X/2) to the Attacks and Fight characteristics of that attack action.

[Trait] The Beast Within: When a Vampire is deployed to the battlefield, roll a die: On a 1-5, the vampire is ravenous, on a 6 - the Vampire is empowered.

Once per battle round, when a ravenous vampire is activated, it can perform a free move action. However, while ravenous, a vampire cannot use reactions or abilities, except Feed (see below).

An empowered vampire can use multiple abilities in each activation. The same ability can be used more than once, but abilities that grant free actions must be fully resolved before another ability can be used. In addition, once per battle round when an empowered vampire uses an ability, you can either add a double with a value of 3, treat a double as a triple, or a triple as a quad. After the ability is resolved, this fighter’s activation ends and it becomes ravenous.

[Double] Feed: Allocate X/2 damage points to a visible fighter within 1” of this fighter. Then, remove X/2 damage points from this fighter. If this fighter is ravenous, it becomes empowered instead.

[Reaction] For the Master: A fighter can make this reaction when a VAMPIRE within 3" of them is targeted by an attack action, after the damage is totalled but before it is allocated, if it is enough for that VAMPIRE to be taken out of action. Allocate those damage points, one at a time, to this fighter instead. If this fighter is taken out of action, allocate any remaining damage points to that friendly VAMPIRE.
