The Combat Phase

Activating fighters

In the combat phase, players take turns activating their fighters. The player with initiative decides who makes the first activation. A fighter can only be activated once, and when all fighters have been activated, the battle round ends.

Actions

A fighter can make 2 actions during their activation. The first action must be completed before making the second action. The same action can be made twice in a row (for example, a move action followed by another move action).

Universal actions

These are the most common actions that your fighters will use over the course of a battle.

Special Actions

Some scenarios and contracts include special actions that fighters can make instead of a universal action.

Free actions

Many abilities and reactions allow a fighter or a friendly fighter to make a free action. A fighter can make any number of free actions in addition to their 2 actions.

Abilities

In addition to actions, a fighter can use 1 ability during their activation by spending ability dice.

Reactions

After each action a fighter makes, the opposing player can make a reaction with one of their fighters.

Bravery and Panic

As fighters encounter fear-causing enemies and supernatural phenomenon, they may be forced to take Bravery tests.
