Underdogs
Over the course of a campaign, some warbands will inevitably grow stronger than others. Whether through luck or skill they will have acquired better equipment and more fighters, and while there’s always a chance that a weaker warband might prevail against such a foe, the wisest choice might often be to find easier prey.
But the factions demand a steady supply of wyrdstone, and will utilise their entire network of saboteurs, informants, indebted sellswords and smugglers to tip the scales and ensure a steady stream of wyrdstone out of the city of the damned.
Determining the Underdog
The underdog is determined in step 3 of starting a battle by comparing the reputation of both warbands. If one warband has at least 5 fewer Reputation than the other, it is the underdog.
Underdog Bonus
For each 5-point difference in reputation, the underdog gets to select a bonus from the list below:
- Informants: Before the first battle round, each fighter in your warband can make a free action.
- Calling in a debt: You may recruit a
Hired Swordwithout paying its listed recruitment fee. - Saboteurs: Select one fighter in the enemy warband without the
Leaderkeyword. That fighter misses the battle. - Bounty: When collecting income in the aftermath sequence, you may consider your standing to be one level higher.
In addition, in the aftermath sequence, all fighters in the Underdog warband may add 1 to their renown rolls.
